Notes
Your Takavada 2026 Safari will begin in Johannesburg on 22 July 2026.
We recommend that you book your flights to arrive in Johannesburg by this date.
If you are flying from Sydney directly to South Africa, please note that we gain a day flying to South Africa from Australia. This means that we arrive on the same day we leave Australia, despite the 14-to-15-hour overnight flight.
We will spend 1 night in Johannesburg. A pre departure meeting is arranged at 8:00 pm on the day of arrival.
We catch a morning flight to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe’s second largest city, on 23 July 2026. In Bulawayo, we enjoy lunch in this majestic cultural city before heading off to Matopo National Park.
Our beautiful accommodation sits among the granite kopjes inside the park. We will spend two unforgettable nights here, the perfect spot to experience the wild beauty of Zimbabwe by both day and night. Highlights include close encounters with the rare rhino, a visit to Cecil John Rhodes’s grave, and the traditional rain-making shrines.
We catch a late morning flight to Victoria Falls Airport. We will return to the town of Victoria Falls later, for now we head out to Hwange National Park.
Here, we spend two memorable days in Zimbabwe’s largest national park, staying just a few meters from the park’s boundary. Our time will include game drives and cultural experiences.
With bags packed on 28 July 2026, we travel by road to Victoria Falls town, where the Falls and many other surprises await us. We will spend two nights here before continuing by road to Kasane, to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Chobe Princess houseboat and enjoy Chobe River excursions for two nights.
Our last leg of the trip takes us to Livingstone on 1 August, where we will spend four nights. Here, we will also reunite with another Takavada group coming from Namibia, making for a truly special ending to our safari.
